Supermassive Black Hole in the middle of the Milky Way

Mayan heiroglyphs describe a "hole in the sky" or cosmic womb, a black hole through which their god-like kings entered other dimensions and accessed sacred knowledge. A black hole may be the cosmic womb from which new stars and our galaxy are born. The dark rift through which the sun will pass at the end of the long count, 2012 was called by the Mayans, the underworld road. This denotes an end of the long count cycle. But then again we know all things recycle.

The astronomy in the video is fine.

But the info box text about Mayans is just stupid -

"The dark rift through which the sun will pass at the end of the long count" ???

Nope.

The dark rift is an area of gas and dust **between us and the galactic centre**

It is many light years distant from us.

We are not moving towards it.

We will not pass thru it.

So that's what that thing is and that's why the milky way is shaped like a whirlpool. we are all being sucked in and were about 25% into that thing so basically then the milky way is just a giant garbage disposal for old plannets

@dewsplash They state that the SMBH could fit comfortably within the Earth's orbit. We could only 'observe' its accretion disk which is much larger than the event horizon of the BH, so I guess this disk is rotating at near the SOL. They estimate with equations of orbital mechanics of the nearby stars what the disk and therefore the BH are doing, unless they can directly observe the disk. I don't know if they can these days.. Total mass = by knowing the speed of its accompanying stars.

@dewsplash Even the Earth would have to speed around at 2.38 times the speed of light to complete an orbit in only 11 minutes.

Pluto's speed would have to be over 92 times the speed of light.

Pretty much the end of the Mayan cycle is when the sun, Earth, and the center of our milky way line up in a straight line...... That's the end of their calendar, time to make a new one.
