The NFL celebrated Hispanic Heritage month by sponsoring Schulze Elementary School in Irving, TX. The Dallas Cowboys sent players into the school to read to the kids earlier in the week and then the school hosted the largest Read and Rise Family Reading Night in the history of the program last night. Over 600 people attended the event where students received $5 Reading Certificates to shop the Scholastic Read and Rise Book Fair. Parents learned how to make reading a habit at home at the Read and Rise Family Reading Workshop and students participated in the PLAY 60 activity led by the Dallas Cowboys.
After the workshops, the families reconnected as kids became authors and illustrators during the build-a-book activity.
The night concluded with a huge Book Fair. They don't make libraries big enough :) The line was down the hall and out the door as every family was able to participate in selecting books for their home libraries.
Go to school there
