NFWF-supported projects save the endangered whooping crane from extinction. In the 1940s, whooping cranes were almost extinct. But they're beginning to come back, thanks to the strong work of partners supported by NFWF. NFWF has supported several projects to help the cranes' recovery, from hatching chicks in captivity to teaching them how to migrate, like wild birds do. It's an amazing story. Seeing these huge birds return to the sky, you can't help but be inspired by the work NFWF makes possible.

A very nice presentation. My interest in whooping cranes began in a Civics class in 1948 when we learned there were only 16 left alive, with the very real possibility that this species would soon become extinct. Hats off to Joe Duff and the other pioneers and participants in working so hard to save them.
