Kayla throws a hissy fit after believe

Kayla ended believe with a slideout while Katina swam around the tank "waving" with Makaio by her side.They were rewarded with fish, ice and water in a bucket, then the trainers went behind stage. Kayla waited by the gate, doing what I can only assume was begging for more reinforcement by vocalizing, opening her mouth and rolling her tongue to unseen trainers. When she received no attention, she started swimming vigerously around the tank, coming out of the water at some points, and slamming into the gates. Katina and Makaio joined in after awhile. I caught the very end of it. After Nalani, Trua and Malia were called away, Katina, Kayla and Makaio calmed down. You can't see it, but at the end they let Trua in. I asked a trainer what happened afterwards, she said she hadn't noticed. Maybe I was over reacting, but oh well. Sorry for my stupid babblings, the "oohs" and "kayla has some aggressionnnnnn." Btw, if you can't tell from my comments, I'm anti-cap.
Animals are unpredictable, we get it, that's fine when you're talking about less complex, smaller species in captivity. But when you get into the more intelligent larger species, that's where you have the problem. An orca in captivity may not be trying to hurt anyone, but when it gets upset, as all complex animals do, it is so large it can do serious damage. Examples? Tilikum got upset and killed his trainer, Dawn. Kandu5 got upset and while trying to attack another orca, killed herself. During one of Hugo's hissy fits he broke his tank and sliced off his rostrum. This may have been a little hissy fit on Kayla's part, but she could have broken her teeth and damaged her rostrum or melon. And imagine if trainers were still in the water when this happened, it might have ended tragically.

She was upset for whatever reason, and let that emotion explode out no different then a three year old does. The problem is that when large complex animals are put into tiny tanks, when they have hissy fits like these, which are bound to happen, they can seriously injure themselves and others.

@chasethemagnificent We DO boycott circuses as well - and how can you say they have it "perfect". They are five ton animals in tiny tanks forced to do tricks for rewards. Their lifespan in the wild is 50 years on average but only EIGHT in captivity. How is that "perfect"? How ignorant!!!

i really do not want to get in any sort of argument, but all you people bashing SeaWorld should go boycott a circus. circus animals have it awful! it makes these animals look like they have it absolutely perfect! circuses need to be everyone's main focus right now!
