This is my utilitarian pump. I made this one for being used, rather than just looking good.

It's a very simple pump: An impeller pushes water through a curved tube. Normally, this doesn't work because you can't get pieces to pass through other pieces (other than the ones they're affixed to) without them passing through everything else. This pump abuses the fact that pieces (and water especially) can be forced through others, particularly if they're small. It isn't my favorite of pumps, but for it's function, I have seen none better.

  • Cool! It's nice and simple, with few parts. How high can it push the water? Have you posted the .phn file anywhere?

  • That's what it was made for :).

How high it can push the water is relative to the thickness of the impeller blades. The water won't pass through thicker blades so easily. However, I haven't managed to overload this one even with 7800 particles.

I haven't posted the .phn file anywhere. The pump is pretty easy to make. Just draw the pipe in one piece (leave a thin connection to do it) and do the same to the impeller. Stick a motor on it and you're all set!

  • How did you make the U-bend?

  • Polygon tool, lots of zooming in and out, and a bit of patience.

The new version of Phun's collision group system pretty much defeats the purpose of this pump, though.

  • @DeltaWound I have the new version of the Phun. I make the U-shape using the subtract in the CGS and a lot of fussing to get the other parts centered... Either way, It's the most effective pump I've seen. Plus, I made a refined version and it works like a champ!

  • Build somthing and then improve it a little and then a little more and a little more and so on.

  • damn i wish have ur computer and the knowledge to make awesome things with that program damn

  • I made a valve based pump once, but either mine wasw to sloppy or too complex for phun...
