Dont detox on your own!!!..Too dangerous...Go to a rehab..I have been detoxed from xanax...and..I am home now and really going through hell..But I do have good days..The mind plays tricks on you...I can deal with the physical part..but the mental part of detox is crazy...The mind tells you that you are going to die...Just pray and get to meetings..K

@johnthetrevor <Hi how is it going now? Curious. Me, had several false starts but this seems to be sticking and working this time

@tinamarie2913 dude scary. im on kpins for 2 years and i felt a detox once on them and it was indescribable. i always fear a situation where i lose access to it and what would happen, i would like to get off those.

I have been taking xannax since 18 and I am 35 now. I have been trying to get off of it, but I have panic attacks and I am bi polar, and BPD. I get withdrawls when I don't have xannax.

as for meetings. i did not need meetings. i wasn't addicted because i was an abuser, though the 12-steppers would argue. i was sucked into it unwittingly by my doctor. i did, however, feel the need to seek out meetings the 3rd and 4th week. they turned out not to be necessary, though the company would have been welcome. if you think you might be tempted to restart, then by all means go to the meetings. be aware that meetings can be hookup places for more drugs and avoid that.

...if you can do so, get the video guy's number and call him on his offer. if someone can't stay with you for 2 or 3 weeks, then make sure they call you once or twice a day and agree to drop everything and visit you if you don't answer.
you will be undergoing something wickedly bad and, during it all, you will be basically disabled. i can't speak for alcohol, but with benzos you absolutely must have at least monitoring at a very minimum. if you can do it, go to a detox facility.

here's the problem. if your doc thinks you've started taking too much he will fear for his license and cut you off. he will tell you to go to your county rehab, straight from his office. of course, you can't leave your (house, dog, car, bird, etc.) alone for an undetermined time, so you will likely just go home to see what happens. this is the reality of it.
real world advice: GET A FRIEND TO STAY WITH YOU ! you need someone to dial 911 or to drive you to the emergency room...

The thing about benzos is you can't just detox you gotta taper. withdrawals from benzos can last months even years where as alcohol a week or two.

I've been off work two months recovering from a cancer treatment. I only take the prescribed medication (Hydrocodone & Xanax) when my menstrual cycle starts which is when the pain gets astonishing. After this week, I feel worse than EVER for at least 10 days and now I realize that I'm most likely going through withdrawal. Wow. Now what do I do......ugh.
-
I was under the misconception that withdrawals couldn't kill you & tried to detox off opiates at home...big fucking mistake. I almost died. I didn't quit cold turkey either, I weaned off but it didn't matter. I ended up in the ER and going to psych ward/detox for 2 weeks. I should have just gone to the hospital right from the beginning. Took 6 months just to feel not sick & almost a year before I really felt "normal" again.

@BiShBrAt 2- so for example someone who taken 180 mg's a time for 5 doss a day for years in pain, or someone on heavy fentanol pathces daily for years can be fatal in instant- this doesnt happen with street users they do not have the round clock daily cell saturations- but only thing "correct" bout your statements is the "brat" in your name- i know 3 people who almost died of anuerisms or organ failures and 2 that did die. 1 from annuerism 1 from organ failure ( believe was liver or kidney)
To the guy who made this video. I've been drinking heavy for about 2 years now. Average around 8 beers a day. I'm stopping tomorrow as I've had enough of it. Do you think I'll be ok? Bit worried after this video. Tried using chlordiazipoxide a few weeks ago but failed.
Desperately want to quit now.
