This is an impromptu test of the Nexus One, iPhone 3G S, and Droid over WiFi and then 3G.

The wifi test was using 802.11g. The page loaded was The New York Times. To be fair, we tried Fox News first but they returned and .mobi site which is pretty weak being that all three devices have completely capable web browsers.

The Nexus One topped the WiFi test just ahead of the iPhone with the Droid tailing it quite a bit.

The Nexus One was on T-Mobile, the iPhone on AT&T, and the Droid on Verizon. T-mobile and AT&T had both just upgraded to HSPA+ data (7.2 Mbps). This test was loading The Huffington Post. This may be a carrier difference, but the iPhone narrowly beat the Nexus One over 3G ... with the Droid pulling up the rear.

A quick note about the orientation. I was shooting the video with my iPhone and started the recording with the phone in it's vertical position. I intended for it to be horizontally oriented.

  • Being on different networks, this kind of test would be testing network speeds not browser speed. You would have to put them all on the same wifi network and test (which you may have done, i dont know what you tested it on)

  • The first page is on WiFi, the second page is over 3G. Click the "more info" link in the description for more information.

  • eh...they kinda jacked this up FIRST OF ALL: THEY TAPPED IT AT DIFFERENT TIMES..........

SECOND shouldnt the battery lifes be at least in the same range?

  • It was taped at the same time. I cut out the point where we were discussing which page to load and typing it in as that would have made it over 10 minutes long. Who would want to spend that much time watching?

  • no TAPPED not taped like tap tap with your finger

  • Sorry, assumed it was a typo. We did what we could with three different people.

  • @watcherviewer27 the nexus can download music from other site..iphone cant..

the nexus has flash... iphone cant

the nexus has a 1ghz iphone isnt show me a spec sheet where APPLE themselves states is a 1ghz

  • the iphone is jailbroken (SBOptions) which could (sometimes massively) effect its speed.

  • Eich, the iPhone still won haha

  • its not fair cause the iphone is jailbroken which makes it slower

  • I heard that theyre already shipping.

  • i heard that the n1 is coming to verizon in april.

  • Well I don't really mind anymore, because the Droid is still great. It can overclock to 1.3 GHz

  • unlucky mate ... im getting the HTC Desire

  • yesterday they just came out with 3g for the nexus

one for at&t nexus one look at there web site

  • Haha yeah, true, they're both really bad ass phones. So could I like... exchange a Droid for a Nexus One there lol? IDK if returning works because I did the buy one get one free Droid deal with my step dad and he likes his.

  • Well you have 30 days to exchange the phone or end your Verizon contract. I'm still debating if I want to switch to the N1 or not. IMO both the N1 and the Droid are badass. And both names exude ultra badassness. lol : )

  • Ugh :( I just got the droid and now a phone with twice as much of a processor, twice as much RAM, 3g, and a better look is coming 2 weeks later.

  • There is actually some sort of new app out that plays wma and other lossless files on an android.

  • ill buy it off you

  • well return it before the 30 days are up. google is gonna release a N1 with at&t 3g compatibility

  • um go get a blackberry if you need that no android phones support wma

  • im stupid.. i bought nexus one yesterday and now i hear att N1 does not have 3G with att. god damn it!

  • It doesn't support 3G with ATT because of ATT's bs off number wireless signal.

  • nexus one!!! ftw

  • Did you guys delete history, cookies etc?

  • @parcheezeman

You haven't even held any android phone in your hands, have you, though?

  • WTF are you saying??? Audio quality sucks here.
