People don't bother to maintain their tires either, Can't tell you how many people I see daily driving on tires which are seriously underinflated. Even a newly manufactured tire can fail under these circumstances. Ultimately people just get in their cars every day and drive them with no attention given to the condition of their tires. Yet our society lets them sue others for their own lack of responsibility. There are so many other things that age alone which cause failures.
I've run many sets of tires on my vehicles over the years and they have held up with no issues. I always buy name brand quality tires and have no issues running a tire that is older.
In some cases where a tire has spent it's whole life in sunlight or in service then I do agree that age becomes an issue. But a tire that has been stored in a cool/dark place for an extended amount of time then placed into service can serve a full and safe life. This is another fear/scare tactic to sell more tires!

It has a manufacturing date doesn't it? You don't need an expiration date if you have a manufacturing date. Complete stupidity.
