Philosopher-poem by James Marchetti, beats/flute by Greg Pattillo

This was a staple jam from back in the days of the San Francisco Collaborative Arts Insurgency (the C.A.I., 2003-2005) and the 16th st and Mission open mic scene. I met James the first night of my living in CA, and he was the first poet I ever collaborated with there. Originally recorded for the C.A.I. album, Philosopher ended up being chopped at the last minute. This is a direct reflection of the collective style and focus of our scene: get out of your chair, get out of your home, get inspired and collaborate with those like minded, and preach it in the streets to the people, shout it to all that came to listen and those that don't even know you are there....
