Four animations made in Spring 2011. All Sounds and Images by Peter Vianen.
Title Sequence originally in Dutch.

The Chinese characters stand for: I CHING, or Book of Changes. The theme of this video 'I CHING: four animations' is transformation through the creative process, in this case of making an animation. Each animation sequence consists of basically the same original materials-photographs of a set of 100 etchings and an earlier animation done with tinfoil, but cut to pieces and rearranged.

The music consists primarily of everyday sounds like tongue clicks or voices singing a middle 'c' and snippets of compositions. These audio materials were reworked into larger compositions, providing starting points for reorganising the video materials into animations. The titles of the animations refer to the four elements that undergo change.

Taken together both audio and video materials get transformed and rearranged in the process of animating, in the end resulting in a Book of Changes, I CHING.
