Glen was amazing. He works at the Celtic Music Interpretative Centre in Judiqee, Cape Breton, and was explaining just before this video how Gaelic singing and fiddling are echoes of each other. Amazing.
@HappyinSunnySoCal It's called "cailleach liath ratharsaigh" which means "the grey-haired old lady of Rothsay" You'll find an excellent recorded version of both the song (puirt a beul) with fiddle on Mary Jane Lamond's album "Storas"
My wife & I met Glen at the Center two years ago, and I recognized him from several Ceilidhs at the Doryman, the Creamery, the Normaway Barn, and Judique on the Floor. While it is instructive to see him at the center, it is revelatory to see him in performance, perpetuating the Celtic music heritage of Cape Breton!

This is the best modern example of puirt a beul I've ever seen!

Met Glen a couple of summers ago at the Centre - super nice guy, and passionate about preserving traditional CB music.
