Laid back and bluesy guitar solo over a smooth jazz backing track, so I named it 'Breakfast in bed' because that's the coolest, most laid back thing in know! The backing track is free to download from http://soundcloud.com/david-dyer and the backing track chords can be downloaded from http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?g1eiz80h91x333y

Gibson Les Paul CC#2 Goldie through the clean channel of a Blackstar HT5R with a slight boost from a Boss BD-2 and recorded using the emulated speaker output into a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2.
Bass, drums, electric piano and grand piano on the backing track recorded using my Yamaha Clavinova
Sound track mixed from 3 takes of the solo using Reaper - great bit of software.

  • Great feeling and playing!..May ask you what you think of the guitar? I am planing to get one.. Is it that much better than a normal R9? I mean does it worth the extra money? Thnx

  • @Vaish57 I played this and an R9 back to back before deciding to buy the Goldie. They were both excellent guitars but the Goldie had a brighter clearer sound and was more responsive. The Goldie was also a lot lighter and had a thinner neck which I found easier to play. You should do the same comparison if you can. Worth the extra? Hard to say. The Goldie will probably hold its value better.

  • Very tasteful. Well done

  • damn.. awesome feeling!

  • u r very talented. amazing sound, i'd cut some treble off though.

  • Breakfast in bed is really as laid back as it gets! With a good cup of coffee to supplement it'll always be a great day. Very nice and sensitive playing. Too many people choke their Les Pauls by cranking the distortion to eleven, but you've found the sweet spot to make it sing.

  • I have to say, this music is not my "cup of tea" but this guy is fantastic, to the point where I can actually appreciate it! Is this the #2 Goldie? I believe this guitar has ruined all other guitars for me :D

  • That was beautiful, djdyer1. The playing, tune and the guitar. Bravo!

  • Jeez.. You're so tasteful! I wish I was a bluesy feel/jazz player when I hear things like this.

  • Great feel, tasty phrasing, and of course that's one gorgeous Les Paul.
