  • @mpgalmerica I don’t agree with your statement on #1 I have many different GPS units and this one is running the same surf star GPS Chip set as the rest. #2 not sure what happened to you but I found the rep I spoke with to be as helpful as a call center rep can be. He even told me of the trade in program so I could save $220 off this unit. On #3 I haven’t had to call technical support as the unit is very simple to operate and I have had any problems with it. as for #4 everyone has an opinion

  • @TheShootingacademy wow bummer about your inability to figure out how to use screen on the GPSr. I have had no problems other than pressing the buttons longer than you would with a smart phone screen. It works easy once you get the hang of it.

  • Looks like a great GPS, I like the ergo's and mounting option better than its competitor the Oregon 550t.

I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on this one, could you do a table top with some opinions and close ups in action?

    Thanks.

  • Wish they could the original Explorist XL and upgrade it to 2011 with the newer touch screen and SIR chipset. I'm not fan of any of the smaller GPS's, I understand the size, but I like the bigger screen of the XL.

  • 1. Why does magellan make crappy GPS units ?

    2. why are the magellan customer service reps such idiots ?

    3. why are magellan technical support staff clueless ?

    4. why is Garmin the best selling GPS ? see 1

  • I'm returning my unit as it is so difficult to use with bare fingers, let alone gloves. Try using the keyboard (split into 4 screens), or making selections from the sub menus - you need fingers the size of matchsticks.
