Taste Of Chicago 2009 WOW! ~What a shame~

OMG! Never been so scared in my life.
Everywhere you looked thugs and gangbangers on every corner.
Fights breaking out all over, people acting dumb and loud, It seemed like every 10-15 minutes people were running and panicking.
At one point there was even what seemed like gas released by the police.
It certainly ruined the fireworks for me.... The whole night was nerve wrecking The fireworks were by far the worst I have ever seen .
I have celebrated the 4th of July in other states, heck in other countries even! But the Chicago celebration I remembered as magical and fantastic six years ago, desappeared after seeing the way the Chicagoans of this generation act and behave. I would never go back after last night. I realized that as a Chicago resident I really don't like going downtown for these sorts of events My poor Chicago or better yet! ___[[[ Chighetto]]]___ :((

This year i decided to spend my fourth in a place were i knew i was going to enjoy the celebration with my family without any riots/fight/gettoness... My day at Epcot was so much better than last years and i didnt have to be looking over my shoulder and trying to protect my family from all the fights that occured last year in Chicago.

BTW i wish you all could have seen the amazingly beautiful firework show at Disney's Epcot! it is way much better than the one in Magic Kingdom!

im sorry dear, but this is not about a racial matter. unfortunatly all the fights i saw was caused by young adults of the black race. and you are right, i saw a white young male fighting with them. but the reason behind it was cuz they sexually violated a young girl and the white male was defending her, of coarse it was only him against a big group of blacks. once again, im sorry you feels this way, but im sure you would appreaciate this events without that much violence.

I was there unfort. and will never go back...my friend (whos pregnant) her husband and their 3 year old were there with me....she was shoved to the ground in that swarm of people trampling....We're from the suburbs and are going to stay there! The police had to take the 3 of us behind their police van for protection...Badwith the helicopters lowering down with the search lights and all the figting.Walking back to the metra or El. I thought I was going to die after they screamed gun shots!

This is ridiculous! The Taste of Chicago is lots of FUN! The Taste runs for 10 days and over 3 Million people come out to have a good time. During the Fireworks show which happens after dark over 1 Million people are in Grant Park. There are bound to be a few incidents, but it is minuscule number compared to the huge crowd. I go to the Taste of Chicago 3 days every year and spend hours and hours there, I always have a great time. So come out and enjoy yourself! Dont Let The Big City Scare You

Some people are so dumb it is amazing! The Taste of Chicago is a 10 day event which draws over 3 million people during that 10 days. During the fireworks display, over 1 million people are in Grant Park, with that many people down there after dark anybody but a dummy would have to expect there would be a few "incidents." When one uses enough sense to take into account the huge crowd, the number of incidents is truly minuscule. I spend hours & hours every year at the Taste and always feel safe.

@smith2ify I know...its turned into an "Animal Arena". Horrible...I've been once and I'll never go back. Bad gang element there and even worse E-coli ridden food thats been in the sun too long.
