The story goes, Robert Johnson Grew up and started playing guitar in his teens...and he would play guitar at clubs and he wouldn't sound good. so one night walking by a river he met a Tall Dark man, who tuned his guitar and played a couple of tunes for Robert, ever since that night, Robert would go to clubs and play what people know today as blues. songs suggest that he sold his soul to the Tall Dark Man
