Director: Paolo Fazzini (documentary, Italy 2006) This documentary presents an informative historical overview of the giallo genre, exploring its genesis and chronicling the films, directors, and personalities that made up its golden age. Featuring interviews with Dario Argento, Lamberto Bava (director and son of Maria Bava), Antonella Fulci (daughter of director Lucio Fulci), Franco Ferrini (co-writer of Sergio Leone's Once upon a time in America and numerous Argento films), Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust), Giannetto De Rossi (make-up artist on Fulci's films), and many others. Hanging Shadows is a fascinating study of a group of films and filmmakers that redefined the horror genre and forever changed the way we think of horror films.

  • This is really nice. Where is it possible to get the whole program?

Thanks for posting in any case!

It's too bad the Italian fantastic cinema is struggling these days. Let's hope 'La Terza Madre' and Italian Masters of Horror will revive things!

  • Argento!!!!!!

  • Love this one and the FEWDIO BEDFELLOWS one. scariest things on youtube.

  • orgoglio italico....grande ruggero deodato!!!!

  • This is great...i will have to try and find this.

  • more channel four learning zone, some great music on there.

  • Interesting stuff, but too short; is there more?

  • Brilliant aside from the occasional use of bland musak that made it seem like something made for channel four learning zone.

  • Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for it. Seems a bit expensive though, and it's probably Region 1? I'm in Region 2.

I'm especially interested in Franco Ferrini, Argento's co-writer. There's an interview with him in Alan Jones' book 'Profondo Argento', but not even a photo of the guy!
