  • I enjoyed this video. I can remember attending an elementary school in the Seattle area right next to a forest like this. We never took any field trips into the forest. I am glad she can identify the Oregon grape. Hopefully, she will learn what type of ferns are in the forest.

  • @sthomaslewis Thanks : ) She gets to know more plants every day. It's amazing how many years some of us go without knowing the common plants all around us.

  • This video was just what I needed...It simply put a big smile on my face!!! I'm a father of a two-year-old daughter and had been seriously thinking about unschooling her but after watching this, I have NO doubts! I really want my daughter to live life to the fullest (just like this super cute and smart little girl). I've watched many videos from "experts" in unschooling as well as unschooling families and have read lots of blogs and so on but honestly, THIS one made the difference. Thank you...!

  • @Freethinker45 Thanks for your nice comment. It put a big smile on Maia's face.

  • Love it! Deprogramming is the best thing for children. Individualism is the right thing for children. Schools a waste of time.

  • Do you know the shows for kids like Dora the Explorer where you have kids watching and trying to learn? If I had a daughter I'd make her watch your video. Your daughter seems so smart and mature... way beyond her years!! Well done on raising her up!

  • Interesting. Cute :)

  • @Freethinker45 Your comment made me cry. If I had had a father like you, it would have saved me soooooo much suffering. School was stultifying torture. I desperately hope that you will be a shining example for your community and that others may follow. Good luck!

PS: When the time comes, Khan Academy is a wonderful resource.

  • @sthomaslewis We never learned the names of the plants and trees in the Seattle area in school. My father taught me some and I learned others when I was in Boy Scouts in Oregon.

  • @msaraann Mission accomplished ;-)
