seriously if you think it's a waste of money then don't go. but if there are people who think it's worth their money then that's their own decision. you can't just block something because you really want to go and you would rather not have to pay.

You go boy! Awesome. I think the vlogbrothers are making money off of this. Seriously that hotel is not worth $150. We can get really nice hotels for $100 all around the city. Luxury and lavishness, don't ever drop it, go bulldog go.

You ask for equality, but in most instances equality is not fair. Unless you own stock in google you do not own Youtube. The organizers of this convention decided to have the event. If they make money on it, they deserve it. They will have done the work. If you don't want to support the convention, don't go. Don't be an obstructionist because regardless of what you say it smells of jealousy.

There are a number of actions you could have taken that would have resulted in better accessibility to the general YouTube populace:
-- find other venues closer to public transportation that are available during the selected weekend
-- help to secure sponsorship to defer overall costs
Instead, your efforts, if they work as intended, will scare off sponsors and put the price further out of range. If not, you helped the organizers shore up some holes in their plan, without increasing access.
