Here's an excerpt from the Blue Hill Troupe's staged reading of The Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta "THESPIS" Almost all of the music has been lost and it has been given a new life with an artful reconstruction with new music by Thomas Z. Shepard

  • Was this music in a. Musical?

  • I've heard that most of the original music was lost because the composer just didn't consider it worth keeping, although he recycled some to use in later shows.

  • All the scores where lost... except for two tunes later used in other operas. The music is just guess work but interesting

  • Feels like oratorio in several places. Not a bad thing at all but a shock to those expecting something like Sullivan.

  • Terrific music
