The resemblance is little more than passing and limited to the opening notes of the first couple phrases. The chorus is a sequence that us common to a great deal of tonal music. One could make a similar argument about "fly me to the moon" and " I will survive." the author of Pelo Joseph is right when he says Naomi had nothing to feel bad about.

Oh, Israel wasn't stolen from anyone in 1947 it was only reestablished.

@Miren37 The composer of "Jerusalem of Gold", Naomi Shemer always admitted that her song was an arrangement of this Basque Lullaby, although she said when she wrote it, she thought it was a complete original. The tune came from her subconscious, because she had heard it performed once live. If you've ever composed a tune, you would understand this. And before you accuse a composer who's passed away already, perhaps you should get your facts straight?!

@gamerdude1246 Yeah, stolen-- repeatedly, through the centuries, by Romans, Arabs, you name it. Good question though-- why don't you ask the Jordanians? They control 90% of the so-called Palestinian mandate. Not Israel. But that doesn't have *anything* to do with the provenance of this lovely song.
