  • absolutely fantastic job just awesome. Love the detail from carpet and color selection to room layout. I see you have a Runco projector if im not mistaken thats a 720 projector correct? have you taken a look at the newer models from other brands the likes of JVC Sony Panasonic or BenQ to name a few? anyway you did an awesome job congrats.

  • I did consider a BenQ. I'm looking forward to replacing my CL710 with a Runco LED someday....it may be a while before the unit needs replacing tho. LED needs to get brighter for me to switch but is a very promising technology.

  • how much did this cost???

  • Approximately how much did this cost? Have you thought about putting fiber-optics in the black drop ceiling or using a 4K or 3D projector?

  • Affordable my ass!

  • affordable my arse

  • @ViolentKisses87 I've been designing a house for a while now as well! My theatre wouldn't be in the basement level though, although ti would be in a windowless room. Even if I have to build an add-on to the house, it's worth it. Obviously, I have stretch this over a period of time to make everything financially flow, so I have time to edit my plans and change details as I build

  • @ListedProduction I'm actually designing an entire house and my theater would be located in the basement level.

So no great skyveiws there however I am incorporating some interesting skylight designs elsewhere. One of which is a multilevel skylight in the foyer room. The large skylight above the foyer room acts as a floor second floor terrace. Then the floor of the parlor directly below is also glass and allows the passage of light into the basement :D.

  • @ViolentKisses87 I was thinking of a fixed screen actually. It's what I have drawn up right now in my book. I love theatrics too don't worry. The surface wouldn't be 6 feet, it would be far bigger

  • @ListedProduction If you go with a fixed surface you could consider curtains. I'm a sucker for theatrics I guess. But that would also depend on the size of your screen, as it may look funny with only a 6 foot wide viewing surface.

I like the look of the night sky and some of these false sky ceilings i've seen on youtube are pretty realistic but I prefer the real thing, though its something to consider I guess.

  • @ViolentKisses87 That's not too bad of an idea. Even from using a spring-loaded drop down screen I suppose I could design and build a housing for it.

  • @ListedProduction Then I suppose their is no real reason to go with a screen aside from effect. You would just have to do a good job in painting a surface. I'm certain their are specially made paints for projector viewing.

Also have you considered changes in floor elevation? Or are you going to have more than one row of seating?
