This RES is only about 2 inches from head to tail, hes fresh! his shell is not yet hard. It is probably a male from the looks of his longer tail, but really it is hard to tell at this age with red eared sliders. he eats aquatic turtle pellets along with feeder guppies for a high protein diet. when he gets older, his diet will consist of much less protein. It is important to have a place out of the water that is dry, so that the turtle can dry off every day and get some heat from the uv bulb.

  • hey guys i need ur answer i just got a red ear slider today and i think the tank is 10 or 20 gallon his sized is like medium idk but if i add more water would he swim cuz im afraid something might happen, and another question is that when i tried to feed him pellot he won't eat it. can anyone write me back Thank you.

  • @hiddendragon100 the more water the better. hopefully the tank is not a 10 gallon, thats way too small for a turtle, do you have a basking dock? heat lamp? UV bulb? filter? all of these things are essential to good turtle health. let me know I can give you much more detailed info. as for food, pellets are fine, extra calcium is also needed for shell growth, product called "repti-cal" sprinkled on food. if the turtle is 4 in or more then pellets are best, if its smaller then a high protien diet.
