US Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina speaks in regards to the issue of the Debt Ceiling increase in exchange for a Balanced Budget Amendment, what would happen to the Republicans that would support it, and briefly speaks of the Republican Presidential candidates.

The Balanced Budget Amendment
1. Cut - Substantial cuts in spending that will reduce the deficit next year and thereafter.
2. Cap - Enforceable spending caps that will put federal spending on a path to a balanced budget.
3. Balance - Congressional passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the U.S. Constitution - but only if it includes both a spending limitation and a super-majority for raising taxes, in addition to balancing revenues and expenses.

  • The original constitution REQUIRES a balanced budget!!! It mandates that government function on the tariffs and excise taxes it collects, if more is needed congress must come to the people for permission. This was subverted with the FED (not federal, no reserve). If congress were COINING money – their job – we would have no debt!!!

  • @aggiepetvideo Indeed, my friend. However, our US Government has become 'WE the Elite, FOR the Elite, BY the Elite' rather than, 'We the PEOPLE, for the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE'. God willing, we'll return to the basic fundamentals, before it's too late.

  • Ron Paul said Romneycare was Constitutional because of States Rights. WATCH THE GOP DEBATE!

    I'm not kidding

  • NO.....MORE......FEDERAL RESERVE!!

  • @hpprinter12345 Thats what ppl fail to understand, the FR wants us to go into default, they only play the part of trying to help. Ppl dont know that this is a private central bank which loans us money and doesnt want us to be able to pay it back so we'll be indebted to it

  • debt ceiling or not were probably gonna loose our credit rating.. soooo prepare for higher interest rates life is probably gonna get pricer.. thank you ben bernake and out wonderful government, since they "represent me" this is exactly what i wanted... oh while were at it there are not enough wars we gotta add at least 20 more.. since they know what "we" want.. FUCK were so corrupt

  • Many U.S. States have a balanced budget Amendment and it hasn't accomplished it's task. The 'Tea Party' isn't telling you that, among many other spending items, the military occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan won't be included in it and it hasn't for all of these many years - in other words, they're OFF BUDGET. It's a clever little way of omitting big gov't spending from disclosure.

  • @socoolbob

Because it is a staged play, and IDIOTS like DeMint label themselves as populous supported movement leaders so they can go around and act as dumb a humnanly possible to taint and discredit that populous movement.

    FALSE LEFT RIGHT PARADEIGM!

The already know what is going to happen with the debt ceiling, and they already know that the US will default on its debt, regardless, have it's credit rating downgraded, and face the same economic collpase with or without a ceiling increase.

  • Why are Republicans shifting the TODAY conversation to something that CANNOT POSSIBLY HAPPEN...and THEY KNOW IT?
