Notwithstanding the incalculable value of human life, and while I'm not sure how much the Russians spend to train their pilots, the taxpayers have several times more money wrapped up in the training of the pilot than the cost of the aircraft he or she flies (well, except maybe the B-2 Spirit ;-) ) These guys can thank their lucky stars some dude thought up the zero-zero ejection seat.
