  • Macallan is okay... but too sweet for me. Like you, I like the Islays! But, it works well for a dessert scotch.

  • I agree about the dessert scotch, but the 18 is not as sweet as others. A very good Malt.

  • Nice review - I sampled this in my local pub yesterday and you're pretty much bang on the money. Not too sweet, and bags of flavour. Good to see you using a proper nosing glass, and just adding a tiny amount of water. My family are mostly Scottish and my uncle showed me a tip - put the water in a glass, then empty it out-the residue is enough to "open up" the dram. I once saw one of your fellow countrymen absolutely KILL a Macallan 25 by dropping 4 ice cubes in it. What a waste! Sleinte!

  • I've been watching you for weeks, and you are pretty darn close to "right-on". Yes, it is good whisky, and yes, a touch spicy. I think that is part of the character of mac. I luv the sherry finish. Macallan always reminds me of a "health-food" type of whisky. Keep up the good work!

  • I've had more expensive but I've never had better.I was drinking this while watching my Gators kick Ohio state's ass for the national title and that was the best drinking ever haha.Macallan 18 is an endearing drink and one of the best Scotches I can think of.

  • Hey, thanks for the review! Where'd you get the 50 ML bottle?

  • Hate to double post but you did mention chives regal in a video (cant remember what one, perhaps even this one onto my 8th dram..) I absolutely adore CR 12 and 18, a ladies scotch imo, all my fancy aunties would sip it. would you lend your nose to a tasty review?

  • i have sampled Macallan 18 in the uk and usa and find the uk VERY sweet (to me a novice), while the usa - not so sweet but a longer finish. can you shed any light on that or is it just my naivete.

not a sherry sweet fan so i dont give Mac much of a chance - i'll revisit a dusty 18 we have (it was my dads old collection i inherited) - i would love to have you at an n/t - love that nose you have.

  • yeah, the cat

  • That is a nice malt tom.
