Ni'ilin_7-10-11

Israel began by building the wall on lands of Ni'lin in 2004, but stopped after injunction that was put out by means of the supreme court. In spite of this decree and stopped off 2004 by the international court of justice that affirmed that the wall is illegal, the building of the wall began again in 2008.

With returned of the Israelis bulldozers to the lands, inhabitants of Ni'lin opened in the popular campaign protest against the massive lands robbery, including demonstrations, strikes and direct actions. As a result from the building of the wall, the village Ni'lin lost 3290 dunams, about 30% from the lands that remaining them.

In the source Ni'lin spread on territory of 15,898 dunams. After 1948 remained to the village 14,794 dunams. After the occupation of the West Bank in 1967 and the building of the settlements and the illegal infrastructures of Nodiein Eilit. Mtitihu and Hashmonaim on lands of the village, lost Ni'lin more 1,973 dunams. With the completed building of the wall, remained to Ni'lin 8,911 dunams, 56% of his original area.

Since 2008, Ni'lin was situated to violent suppression of his unarmed demonstration against the Israeli separation wall. Dozens of demonstrators were arrested for months, including the leaders of the popular struggle from the village. Five demonstrators were killed and American active solidarity was seriously wounded in the demonstrations against the fence. Between the five of the fatalities, two were under the age 18, including boy 10 year old.
