BusinessAnheuser-Busch Agrees to InBev SaleAnheuser-Busch Agrees to InBev SaleThe Associated PressAnheuser-Busch agreed to be acquired by Belgian brewer InBev for about $52 billion in a deal that would shift ownership of the nation's largest brewer overseas and create the world's largest brewer. (July 14)It's a 52 billion dollar deal that could create the world's largest brewing company....Anheuser Bush and Belgian brewer InBev reportedly have agreed to join forces, finally completing a merger that has been in the works for moths. The deal still must be approved by shareholders and approve by regulators.Anheuser-Bush initially voted against the merger in June, saying InBev's 65 dollar per share offer was too low.But the maker of Stella Artois and Becks --- then came back to the table, upping their offer to 70 dollars per share to reach an agreement.Anheuser-Busch is by far the largest brewing company in the nation.... owning more than 48 percent of the market share. InBevs says it plans to use St. Louis as its North American headquarters, and will keep all 12 of Anheuser-Busch's North American breweries open...But they did not say if there will be layoffs. It's not clear how long approval might take from regulators and shareholders.Anheuser-Busch-InBev would be the new company's name --- if the final agreement is reached. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

  • I am not saying that AB makes the best beer in the world but I live in St. Louis and this cooperation is one of the biggest enterprises in our country and by far the most dominant in my town. I think some people should show a bit respect to the people who depended on AB because I can foresee a great number of people losing their jobs due to this and it will definitely take a toll on our community.

  • The sad thing is you may be right...

Well if its easier for you guys to accept that your brewery is belgian now yep lets call it a merger. americans and brains pfff

  • the only hope i see for america is in california... and california might not even be a part of this country anymore by the time we realize that... third-world status here we come...

  • Yes that is probably true but the sad fact is that they've probably already have been importing their ingredients for a long time now as well as just about every other brewer mentioned on here and I would even venture to say that a lot of the local microbrewers do the same thing. There's nothing really 100% American anymore. That comes from decades of people voting in Presidents and other public officials that are under the thumb of the CFR, and guess what, it's going to happen again this year.

  • Even if they brew it in the US, chances are it will be with much cheaper Brazilian barley and rice. Budweiser is as American now as beer & waffles. Thank God for the local microbrewers.
