This video was posted exactly 27 years after the Blade Runner release date on June 25, 1982.
That date was chosen by producer Alan Ladd, Jr. because his previous highest-grossing films (Star Wars and Alien)
had a similar opening date in 1977 and 1979.

Blade Runner is a 1982 American science fiction film, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford,
Rutger Hauer, and Sean Young.

The film depicts a dystopian Los Angeles in November 2019 in which genetically manufactured beings called replicants
visually indistinguishable from adult humans are used for dangerous or menial work on Earth's "off-world colonies".
Following a replicant uprising, replicants become illegal on Earth and specialist police
called "blade runners" are trained to hunt down and "retire" escaped replicants on Earth.
The plot focuses on a brutal and cunning group of recently-escaped replicants hiding in
Los Angeles and the semi-retired blade runner, Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), who reluctantly agrees
to take on one more assignment.

Blade Runner is based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick.

Blade Runner is a literate science fiction film, thematically enfolding the philosophy of religion and moral
implications of human mastery of genetic engineering in the context of
classical Greek drama and hubris, and draws on Biblical images, such as Noah's flood,
and literary sources, such as Frankenstein. Linguistically, the theme of mortality
is subtly reiterated in the chess game between Roy and Tyrell based on the famous Immortal game of 1851,
though Scott has said that was coincidental.

The Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis is a dark melodic combination of classic composition
and futuristic synthesizers which mirrors the film-noir retro-future envisioned by Ridley Scott.

  • This is one of the movies that really stayed in me until the present day...every time i watch it it brings in this nostalgic feeling of a future that never was but still is so real and perfectly concieved...for me it is a strong and strange vibe...like a memory of something that never happened but still very real!!! it's about a real "time" that never was! But who knows...maybe in a parallel dimension...and there are just too many to be told!

  • @JimTheMingebag if he replaced ford... the movie would truly suck. ford did an amazing job. is arnold was in it, it would be filled with shitty one liners and cheesy effects

  • The Bradbury also appeared in the Quantum Leap episode 'Play It Again Seymour', I think?

  • Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies and your video is awesome.

    You've done a man's job, sir!

  • Great Video, Very Interesting Must be good to just grab your camera, go out & visit some of the locations from Blade Runner.

Like how you mixed the Audio over both film & Present day footage, & the angles Is what really does It you caught those perfectly otherwise Its hard to picture them both together.

Honestly this Is something that should be on some Special Features, I Know I'ld be very Interested.

  • Thre are two versions in DVD. I have both cuts: they differ mostly in the Harrison Ford voice over narrative. My prefered version has the voice over work which aids greatly with understanding the story.

  • @pedrofsantos "its too bad she wont live ... but then again who does !?" -blade runner does ;) (;

  • I am...impressed...

  • Epic... *speachless*

  • As a major BR-fan(atic) I totally love this "documentary". I do hope I have the chance to visit the spots in person 2019.

And next year, 2012, it's the 30th anniversary, a great reason for a BR-themed party.
