"DAM means 'immortal' in Arabic. It also means 'blood' in both Arabic and Hebrew, and is the abbreviation of Da Arabian MC's.
DAM is the first and leading Palestinian Rap/Hip Hop band formed by Tamer Nafar, Suhell Nafar and Mahmud Jreri out of the slums of Lod, a mixed Arab-Jewish town near Jerusalem, where they all grew up.
DAM's music is a unique East/West fusion, organically combining Rap with Middle Eastern influences and rhythms, creating a powerful message of freedom.
DAM's message is about protest, 'straight up survival' and peace. It is about the search for freedom of their people under the influence of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is about daily life struggle, the Palestinian quest for equality and fight against discrimination. It is also about self criticism of Palestinian and Arab Society, talking about such issues as terrorism, drugs and women's rights."
