A CAMDEN garden became a Chinese park as more than 150 senior citizens gather to demonstrate the ancient art of Tai Chi last week (Tuesday 24 June).
The hour-long class in Russell Square Gardens (WC1B) at 11am, was organised to celebrate ten years of Camden Council's active health team offering Tai Chi.
The event coincided with National Falls Awareness Day. Research has shown that regular practice of Tai Chi can improve balance and coordination and reduce the risk of falling.
World-famed Tai Chi Master Lam Kam-Chuen was the event's special guest. He is known for his Channel 4 TV series, Stand Still Be Fit, and more than a dozen books on Chinese health that have sold millions of copies worldwide.
Tai chi is an ancient form of exercise that strengthens the body, relaxes the mind and lifts the spirit. Regular practice has many health benefits including better balance and improved fitness.
