This organ was saved. The Christian Science church building at Nutford Place was taken over by the Sylvia Young Theatre School, to expand their training facilities. They had no use for the organ.. Accordingly, they allowed the church to donate the organ, at no cost, to St Michael's Church, Abertillery, where it was installed over the period 2009/2010.

That is such a sadness...SUCH a sadness....
If I had the money, I'd play it everyday and it would never die :))))))))

Yes - very sad. I hear differing accounts of the fate of this organ. It was supposed to be rescued by a church in Wales but someone associated with the project has been unaccountably rude to me and I hear from someone else that the instrument is disparately stored in all sorts of places and may never come together again.

The Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Barbican, London) lacks a decent pipe organ. So does the Barbican concert hall.

Luckily a church in Wales is rescuing this organ. But are the Guildhall and the Barbican really looking for an instrument? The problem at the Barbican is space isn't it?

They are scrapping the organ at St. Andrew's in Roanoke, Virginia for a state of the art Allen Digital Hybrid...
If you look on my youtube page, I have recordings of myself from the St. Andrews organ....It might be the only recordings I'll have left :(((

@britandveg Oh dear. People are SO STUPID to replace pipe organs with electronics which will last as long as a domestic computer. Can you mount a campaign locally to save the pipe instrument?
