I had only ever heard the 87 version. after reading the comments there I came looking for this. Let me say, for a very good change it's nice to read comments about the song, clip and general music of the era rather than crap arguments over who is better then who. It says a lot about Whitesnake fans :)
This song has for some strange reason been stuck in my head all day long, even though I have never heard the original and the not the 87 for at least 20 years.
I miss the 80's

Porr old DAvid really fucked up with the 1987 and the Slip of the Tongue. '87 has a few good track slip of the tongue is just bad. IT is nice thought that he realised how sucked into the 'hair metal' scene he had become and decided to retire for a few years as a result. Alll albums before 1987 were excellent! Hi albums after that shak period. REstless Heart Into the Light Starkers in Tokyo and Good to be Bad are all Brilliant. A real return to form of the late 70s early to mid 80s stuff.

Ya your right. Once you add in the popular synths of the day to any music it instantly puts a time-stamp on that song. The sparing use of synths and the earthy guitars make this version 100000000004x better thatn the'87

This version is interesting. I like both versions equally. The only thing that gets me about this version is the fact that David Coverdale is rubbing the micstand against his nutsack. Granted, it was staple 80s fare to do that, but it still makes me laugh a bit today.
