im super into his racist notion of flintknapping. i'd like to see this dude sit down and try to emulate, to the T, some of the paleolithic knapping techniques and produce a copy... or develop some of the skills they had to "survive" in that period. this whole notion of "my mind is more vertical" that permeates in the west is tired and its why you have super-genius-idiots like this who boast outcomes for humanity that are deterministic and nihilistic.

I'm with you. De Garis is 100% certifiable. So are his followers.

@iconoclastic23 You're very correct, however also completely incorrect. Your words are true, but the connotation I am quite certain they carry in YOUR mind is not at all what is going to occur. Sorry for speaking in such cryptic language, but I wouldn't want to spoil the ending for anyone. You're talking about the Prime Artilect, very important, yes. Perhaps even more than you know. It will be a Cybilect, the first of many. Unian civilization. The answers to the future are written in the past...

@YouKnowMeImJosh Humanity's role in the cosmos is coming to an end. We're a stepping stone in the path towards something else. Once the first human who builds a machine capable of making technological improvements to itself accomplishes his or her task, humanity will have handed off the baton. There's no reason to think an A.I. would do anything for us out of some sense of gratitude. Gratitude comes from our evolution as a tribal social species, a machine would not feel such a sentiment.

@ChristianInHollywood I did not click 'view all comments.' Your comment was not nested with his at all on the main video page, which displays only ten comments. Also, the '@(name)' feature had not been implemented at the time these comments were written, which doesn't help the situation at all.

@vonfinkelstein What I wish would become extinct is stupid people. If you had bothered to read what I was replying to right above, you'd see I was praising loafpork's suggestion that "They could just give every home a neato real doll android to pork at leisure", not De Garis' "fruitcake" idea of machines destroying humans. I don't hate humans in general, I hate stupid people. And you've just made the list.
-
@ChristianInHollywood If you think this is a good idea, you need to be admitted to a psychiatric ward immediately. De Garis is a total fruitcake for thinking we should build machines that destroy the human race (including you) and everything we know that is good. If you hate humans so much, then I would appreciate it if you would do your part and join the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.

Machines are only as smart as people who make them. find 50 programmers to write code for 1 computer then that computer is as smart as those 50. You all are guessing. its not majic. there are components you fail to include in the equation which is why you are all still wondering how it is done.
I dont go to Uni because they are siphons for knowledge. they sit a group of brains in a room tell them what we know and then assign projects for what we need. I am not paying to do that. You pay me.
Anyone who thinks that anything is ever fully or completely or certainly one way or another is the truest kind of fool imaginable. What you need to do is open your eyes and realize that we live in a fluid world of greys, of POSSIBILITY. In real life, there is no black and white, no fully good or bad. There are tools, and opportunities. Outcomes depend on what we choose to make of them. The singularity, the future, may bring oblivion or paradise. These things are both POSSIBILITIS. It's up to us

This idea is pure genius. I have thought of it before because stupid men with no expectations would spend all their time screwing women who would not help spread stupidity genes. I am 100% serious by the way.
