CGR Undertow - SONIC AND KNUCKLES for Sega Genesis Video Game Review

Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow video game review of Sonic & Knuckles for the Sega Genesis. As Sonic 3 was released without all the content and features it was originally intended to include, Sega followed up quickly with the release of Sonic & Knuckles in 1994. Utilizing a rarely seen cartridge technology, it was the first and only officially licensed lock-on cart that allowed for previous Sonic games to be plugged into it and expand their original content, most notably the chance to play as Knuckles the Echidna. As a stand-alone game it's not much different from Sonic 3, but adds plenty of new features and platforming gameplay variety to continue Sonic's 16-bit legacy. This review features Sonic & Knuckles gameplay footage and commentary from CGR Undertow reviewer Kevin.

@kR0B45 ok enough, you jumped on my first comment and said I was being nostalgic for classifying sonic 1-3/knuckles as legendary. Look, they're among the likes of Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Gunstar heroes. The same cannot be said about Sonic Adventure up against Super Mario 64, or Sonic Unleashed against Mario Galaxy, are you kidding me!? You think it "SEEMS" like im being nostalgic, utter bullshit, you know nothing about video games if you think there is any comparison between them

Yes I am implying this game didn't have the mentioned flaws, of course it doesn't, for what it is there aren't really many flaws, and im killing the nostalgia shit right now - I still play this game to this day as well as the other Megadrive Sonics and it has nothing to do with nostalgia, theyre better, ask any Sonic fan who grew up in the 90s the transition to 3D has been flawed since its first debut, I am not saying theyre awful, I am telling you, they are not as good, even to this day.

@TheSonicFan4 error on the DSTWO saying "The sub M circuit board is not installed" and whenever I try to save, it says it cannot save. LeafGreen has no problems, however, and it's really weird... It's the exact same thing... I also like Platinum cuz it reminds me of the days I was playing Diamond without being exactly the same. Same with Crystal. It's better than Gold, but I like Gold WAAAYYY better. :D

And Trackmania Turbo is epic on DS. I love the Island races.

@Lionferrari777 My FAVOURITE Pokemon game of all time is Gold for the GBC. I hate Black and White as well, but I have so many idiot friends on Wii and 3DS that think it's the bomb. XD I feel sorry for them. I'm playing Pokemon LeafGreen on my DSi (using my DSTWO) cuz I loved FireRed (found that in a red GBA SP years ago) and never got to play it through 100% cuz I didn't want to restart the game. I wanted to keep the existing save file. FireRed gives me some bs error on the ---->

@Lionferrari777 Yeah, I hate many rpgs except for a few, including Sonic Chronicles and especially Pokemon (I like the Pokemon games I played at childhood the best cuz back then they reminded me of summer. Now they remind me of those good ol' days.)

I LOVE platforming, though, and like racing games, but the racing games on Wii are kinda awkward. I have Trackmania Turbo on my DSTWO for my DSi, and it's just awesome. So is Sideswiped (crash-racing game.)

@Lionferrari777 I wish I could at least play Sonic 06... Though I don't find buying a PS3 or 360 worth it just to play Sonic 06, Unleashed (have it on Wii, too) and Generations... I mean, I'm a platformer gamer who mostly (if not always) plays Sonic. I don't like shooting games and HATE sports games, so buying a PS3 or 360 would be a total waste for me...

@Lionferrari777 Lol I don't have a 360 or a PS3, so showing off to this Sonic fan for those systems is futile! >:P But the replayability is kinda of poor in Sonic Generations. I found myself going back to past Sonic games on the Gamecube as opposed to playing Generations to no end.

@Lionferrari777 Wow lmao I beat Amy's story in Sonic Heroes 7 years ago! I beat ALL 4 stories 7 years ago!... but I finally got all 7 Chaos Emeralds 5 months ago... Lol it was hard enough getting into the Special Stages, but once you were in, the controls were so hard! Btw I have Sonic Generations on my laptop (got it for free but only cuz I don't have a PS3 or 360) in a few days, and I barely played. It was so easy. But who am I to talk? It lagged in most places, making it easy
