10 years ago, the neo-natal department at the Kenyatta National Hospital's Newborn Unit introduced The Kangaroo Mother Care concept to facilitate growth and development of premature born babies usually weighing less than 2 kilograms. The babies are carefully tucked under their mothers' bellies where they are in direct skin contact with their mothers, an innovative and cost effective way to keep them warm and assist them in their growth. Channel one's Wangari Kanyongo was at the new born unit and brings us the story of a concept that has helped reduce infant mortality. story by wangari kanyongo, uploaded by E.Nyandoro. more at http://www.kbc.co.ke
