After about 7 months of failure catching CSX's Tropicana Juice Train aka Q740=Bradenton, FL to Greenville, NJ a 2nd time, I finally randomly had the guts to drive early enough on that Monday morning to spot it in action! I drove by Tropicana 1st & caught CSX#4310 & CSX#4302 which were 2 EMD GP38-2 units breaking up the Q741 into their respectful sidings in the yard that CSX#539 & CSX#5422 set out there from their trip from Greenville, NJ!! On top of that, I had an educated guess that those were the 2 road units that were gonna lead the loaded Q740 out of Bradenton!!!

So, after these 2 GE units rolled towards US 41 to attach to their train, I quickly sped into Palmetto, FL to 1 of the crossings to catch it in action!! During the middle of the post, I politely stopped a UPS delivery truck from blocking my shot of this loaded train in action. I was surprized he was cool with it:-)! But at 0:45 you can hear us talking a bit. I normally don't like to talk in my posts; esp filming trains, but I felt lucky catching the Q740 a 2nd time after a grueling 7 months of failure:=)!!!!

  • IDK! Guess it has to do with the calculations of tonnage per railcar or the tonnage they're haulin. Maybe they measure that with the total amount of hp & torque from the units that pull it! But, don't know!

  • Thank You!

  • Thanks!

  • cool catch 5*****
