Aside from the absolute horror of murdering your own children, and especially resorting to violence against Helga, I often wonder what would have happened to these beautiful children had they survived the war. If the Russians captured them, the girls would have been raped before being murdered and Helmut would have been tortured in other ways. The Russians raped thousands after the fall of Berlin, so they would have treated them the same.

I was a British soldier in the immediate post war period serving with the Military Police in Duesseldorf as an interpreter. I can assure you that any British soldier that assaulted a German civilian would have been very severely dealt with by the military authorities. It is beyond dispute that Russian soldiers with their officers approval did indeed rape women but there is no evidence whatsoever that they assaulted children - only stories. The truth is not negotiable.

Gobbels was a better dad than mine. Or maybe that was just the for film part. Other Nazi's seemed to be good dads too, taking their kids swimming in an era where few dads did that. According to the Downfall movie they died humanely, sedation then Cyanide while asleep, not like Susan Powells ex hacking up the boys then explosion.

Interesting. Many people who deny the war and are such Jew haters, what do they do to justify how the Nazis systematically wiped out THEIR OWN children in such a barbaric way? This makes me feel sick.

@loser33user Magda was a complex character. She was apparently very hurt by her husband's many infidelities. It does seem likely that she was very fixated on Hitler whatever the origin of her having named all her children with the letter H. Dr J Goebbels was clearly a very clever man. Many of the propaganda terms he thought up such as as 'revenge weapons' and 'terror bombing' are still popular with the many freaks that infest Youtube sites.

@eddie123e The Goebbels children were not named after Hitler. Magda had another child before Hitler came to power and his name also started with 'H.' It was actually the idea of her first husband who had two other children both with names beginning with 'H.' She just carried it on in her second marriage.

There was no good outcome for these poor children. They would have been tortured or killed if the Russians had got to them, and even if they survived the Russian takeover, they would have lived the rest of their lives in the shadow of their Nazi father and would have been universally hated for something they had nothing to do with.

You may or may be not correct, it's difficult to say. I just found out about a nurse of these kids in the bunker I didn't even know about. "Erna Flegel-From January 1943 until the end of World War II, Flegel served in that capacity for Hitler's entourage and during the Battle of Berlin. She is believed to have been in Hitler's bunker when he committed suicide. Upon the Soviet capture of Berlin, Soviet troops advised her to remain in the bunker complex where it was safer." Lived till Feb 2006
