Dorsey's twist on the classic song. It was released in 1960 as the flip side to his #48 pop hit "Hey Little One". Anyone who has any of his country hits, I'd love to hear them.

  • disgrace to the original

  • He's the good looking Burnette. Better singer than Johnny, who did several of Dorsey's songs.

  • This is classic uplifting depression era music. "Up on the Big Rock Candy Mountain ...there grows a money tree - but nobody pays any mind to it 'coz everything is free.' The 50's/ 60's rockers preserved early American music to boomers. The Burnette's, Holly, Diddley and the folkies - Seeger - Weavers - Peter, Paul and Mary - Guthrie's - dug into Alan Lomax' s tune gathering anthropology. This song runs deep in American folklorico. So glad you posted it. Thanks.

  • Great Song, one of my favourite songs of the 50's and 60's era.

    The brother of Johnny Burnette.

Loved the 'Rock and Roll Trio' too.

  • dorsey was a great talent and made some classics!

  • Great song..I remember hearing this on the radio when I was 10 years old..I loved it then and hey it doesn't sound too bad now either!!Thanks very much for the posting!!

  • I do prefer this version vs. Burl Ives
