some carb cleeners have oil in them!!!
-
the best thing is you can do to polish it with sand paper dont make it oily otherwise your brakes will not work properly................

@izeman458 Don't think that's oil dude.. probably brake dust

I'd advise wearing rubber gloves if you're going to hold onto the rotor while you spray it with brake or carb cleaner.

He did somethings wrong. Didn't clean the hub and you aren't supposed to use brake or carb cleaner on rotors. Leaves a thin film that dries and can cause squeekin. Soap and water is the best to clean rotors.

can you just wipe the oil off with a dry rag and just let any of the excess oil get rubbed off over time from the brake pads?
-
can you used alcohol? also ... is it really necessary to wipe of some break fluid that got all over teh place as I took the caliper piston out? Thank You!

brakleen and carb cleaner might have similar components, but they handle grime very differently. Carb cleaner will dissolve varnish no problem, brakleen won't. Brakleen is far superior at dissolving grease-based grime, but it won't dissolve varnish deposits. It's not very accurate to say they're the same. (and Brakleen™, aside from it's different cleaning abilitites than carb cleaner, has a WAY more powerful spray).

Same reason that he leaves motor oil on his hands like it was Nivea: he could care less.
