Holy Moly lightning strike and oil tank fire in Oklahoma_0001.wmv

This chase in North Central Oklahoma ended with an oil tank fire that was caused by lightning. We had left Norfolk NE early that morning as we were driving back to Alabama. By the way this is the infamous Manchester SD outbreak day. We passed hordes of chasers as we headed S all morning. These garden variety severe storms were putting out continous cg strikes causing an oli tank fire. When we turned around to warn the owners look at the right top of screen for a lighting stike that hits the power lines. They finally put out the fire with a foam truck arrived. This was one of those storms where you didn't want to be standing outside. My wife Hope was co-pilot this chasecation !

We initially thought it was a house, but could see when we got close enough it was an oil storage tank that was struck by lightning 8>)

As you can see in the video we went back to the owners house and verablly checked with them, no need to call 911 at that point as they already had

They were lucky enough the oil tank got struck, if it were the house, they'd be screwed..
