They didn't ruin anything -- they are two different universes with the same basic idea. They're both Highlander beginning stories, in their own, separate worlds. It's not ruining, it's just another story. Look at it like two different stories.

Highlander II - The renegade version directors cut is worth a watch if you have not seen this movie but I would not bother with Highlander II - the Quickining the theatrical version as it makes no sense.

This movie has plauged me for years. I loved the first movie and found quite charming. This movie however is something different. I loved the soundtrack and the use of Wagner, especially during the opening. This movie suffered dearly for the lack of creativity and disregard for the previous facts established in the first film. They put so much production into it but it still made me say what the hell happened ? I still like it for some reason but they could have been more mindful of the story .
