  • This was a stunning match by Connors, and also he had one in 1st round too against Patrick MacEnroe. It was one of the most sensational, dramatic tournaments in all of sport, with Connnors at 39 making the semi-finals. And did British TV show even a second of it, or the slightest highlight? NO. And we complain why we are shit tennis nation. (British person here, tennis lover)

  • Maybe not the greatest male tennis player ever -- but certainly the most entertaining and openly passionate.

  • WOW 20 Years on !!! The "Birthday" match. Thanks for the upload. Interesting to see this from French TV. It was really tough for Aaron playing when the crowd was 99 percent for Jimmy for almost 5 hours. I think this was the same tournament where Aaron took out Agassi in the first Rd. Anyone here got footage of that match ?

  • Jimmy Connors is one the most brillants and unique players in HISTORY. This guy was putting his life on the line on every single point of every single match.

He had the unique gift of connecting with any crowd in the world .

The guy who more tournaments than anybody else in the history of the sports.

He will always be the only guy to have won The US Open on three different surfaces.

Jimbo is a tennis ICON, he made me a tennis fan forever and when he left, nobody could fill it at all.

  • @andunusblick AMEN AMEN AMEN

  • connors > sampras > federer

  • Saw Krickstein last night in Delray Beach.

  • connor carried on like a dickhead , im positive he wasnt all there in the head

  • Two gorgeours players very appreciated in France too !! ( especially " JIMBO" ).

NB : Yannick Noah comments in French with a journalist called Pierre Sled.

HAUNTING TIE BREAK !!! Thank u.

  • @jegspillerpiano This is always the match that gets shown during rain delays, and with what Jimmy did on his 39th birthday in this match, is certainly memorable, but how come no one mentions more the 1st Round match against Patrick? I'd love to see some of that match during a rain delay, or on ESPN Classic(they ran a U.S. Open tribute this week). No one ever shows that one. Surely, CBS or USA has to have that match on tape somewhere.

  • Even though Connors was such a first class jerk, insincere, manipulator....what a great day for tennis. Despite Connor's selfishness, he did indeed give the crowd what they paid for, almost every time. And Krickstein, is a first class competitor AND gentleman. His remarks after the match (and most people would have been more than annoyed by Connors antics) were nothing but absolute dignity and class.
