@ThePanzerWarMachine Barack Obama was born on the island of Oahu in 1961, 2 years after Hawaii was annexed and given statehood even if he was born before 1959 he still would have been considered an american citizen because he was born on an american territory. If you think im wrong, look at puerto rico, their also a US territory and if your born their your a US citizen

@ThePanzerWarMachine but the treaty was never signed by the senate so instead it was made into the territory of hawaii because of the newlands resolution, because of this natives to hawaii who had children were now >>LEGAL US CITIZENS<< and could begin voting in politics, plantation owners that used to always have power in politics began to fall due to the loss in hawaiian support. Those immigrants began campaigning for statehood, this began in the 1950s, in 1959 hawaii was annexed

The territory of hawaii had a history with the united states since 1896 since president mckinley was elected after the queen(yes hawaii had a queen look it up) was opened to persuasion by president grover cleveland. After long negotiations john sherman agreed to an annexation treaty (this got the ball rolling)
