No,this doesnt spoil the mashona spirit at all,its a wonderful tribute to the instrument created by them. Any truly great instrument eventually finds its way to other cultures,this happens as a result of love,not thievery or corruption, Please thank the friends of the Mashiona tradition,they are kind people.

what an excellent sound, I don't understand the preference for the thick keys with a "crease" down the middle that the Shona mbiras often have, I much prefer this "thin key" sound. Of course its about the music, sound alone can be misleading (a "worse" sound is better for some music, like distortion) Never the less I myself could make music more readily with this sound with its long sustain and sharp treble edge. well played

Beautiful music and tone. Every mbira I've seen has a slightly different timbre, and yours is one of the really sweet sounding ones. I'll try to track the maker down. My guy here probably knows him. Nice work!
