A trailer for www.pmpvideo.com Rally Round the Eighties, a look at bus rallies 1983-1989 purchase on Amazon, EBay or direct from PMP Filmed by David Cole.
I did this back in 1969 with RTW 10 before starting at Harrow Weald Garage.' I have just retired from ARRIVA LUTON after 34 years driving around the town.
A remarkable video. Amazing handling (& driving) ...funny watching the reactions of some of the spectators :-) .....It's such a great life on the buses :-)
Trained on this skid pan in 1972 whilst driver training out of West Ham, Have to say the RT driver is a bit of a chancer or very skilled as you would NEVER be allowed to select reverse whilst on the move as happens here after one skid.
Many eulogise over the RM but for the iconic London Bus will always be the RT for me. You have'nt lived untill you've driven one of these down the Mile End Road at 4.30 in the morning with 5 standing (or more) taking the early morning cleaners to the city!
I did this when I first started my long career on the buses back in 1971. We got there a bit late and the instructor wouldn't let us go round again. Great fun, but totally useless.

Hmm I guess this is out of the training system now. Guess I wouldn't be able to power a Dennis Trident V Reg in a skid pan.. :'(
