Yes, because its practical to have a $20 million dollar drum set that weighs almost a ton that will bend at the slightest touch.
I don't think you realize how expensive, heavy and soft 'pure' gold is. You can bend a rod of pure gold in your hand.

By the way, the cymbal stands and hardware aren't pure gold, they're gold plated, which means they sort of just have a gold covering over the metal stands.
