One of the best b-boy battles in history. Personally my favorite.

  • I went into watching this battle thinking that Rivers were gonna smoke them but instead as the battle progressed, Rivers just kept looking defeated. The real defining moment in my opinion was when Casper flipped off the stage and instead of ignoring him, Physicx jumped off the stage and basically gave up his set. Stupid move and really showed who was in control the whole battle.

  • @escierda Actually IMO Physicx was trying to best Casper by doin a gainer off the stage and Casper interrupted him, no?

  • @ThisAznGuyyy Physicx could've ignored him as the judges would've ignored it as well but by trying to best him, and then losing your spot on the floor it shows who won at that point.

  • I admit this was a beast ass battle, but Rivers should of won. The point of crew battles is to show what you can do as a crew, and Rivers was always rockin fresh with dope ass routines, where Mind 180 only owned during single sets.

Maybe it's just a personal preference, but if I wanted to see good one person sets, I'd watch one on ones or two on twos, but in crew battles, the crew's skill as a whole should define the winner, not each person's skill.

  • @axiz177 I totally disagree and apparently the judges do as well. I wanna see b-boys that can rock on the spot not just perform memorized routines AND sets all the time. Rivers kept crashing in some of their routines and after the routines when someone had to showcase their solo stuff, it was not as fresh as Mind 180's.

  • @escierda You do realize that most sets are memorized. A bboy does not come up with moves ON spot, it is more like storing a database of moves and pulling them out. So, if you think that Rivers are only doing "memorized" sets and routines. That is an ignorant opinion. How can you perform sets without memorizing? How could you freestyle without memorizing moves and linking them with transitions. Also, Rivers did lose this battle, I do agree. But you are completely wrong about everything.

  • Hitting the beat requires memorization of the music but no one discredits someone like Born or Kid David by saying "You memorized the song!" Instead you see it as more of a freestyle even though someone could argue otherwise. My argument was simply that Rivers crew didn't even look like they were dancing from the soul but just thinking, "Ok.. what other routine can we do?" The best battles are those where you can see the music inspiring the way someone dances, Rivers didn't have that this time.

Yup bit so is Skill Methodz

  • Korea has been dominating bboying from 2002 till now, but i think mind 180 is the best american battle peformer against a korean crew.., this is my opinion though.

  • Mind 180 style nuff said

  • why did usa call bites on born? bull shit, i hate it when crews randomly call bites when they want the judges to side with them.

  • @AstrayChronicle Nope, I totally agree with that. But I think ur missing what I was saying. But Yea, ur right. today its more about Innovation than Invention. And yea "sequences" are unique, not specific moves (in general). Thats what I meant by moves, sorry I didnt clear that up. If you copy the unique way some1 goes in, and out of a move, thats a bite imo. But if u just do the move, its not biting.

  • @erhsbboy

That's where we disagree. Bite has lost some meaning over the years because the dance is so developed. Very few Bboys actually have moves that are completely original.

It isn't like how it was 20 years ago when crews like Battle Squad kept developing new moves. The current age is more about refinement and sequences. As a result when a Bboy flips a move they deem it theirs. That sequence is what they call their own and that's why they'll call bite on it.

    Otherwise who can call bite?

  • @AstrayChronicle Yea, sidechair spin isnt a bite and hes wrong for calling it. thats my point lol. Im not defending born personally. im more defending the move i guess. Just saying that that move is done alot. Keebz nor Born owns it. Biting has become more of "Oh i do that too, ur biting" rather than "Thats MY original move that I made." Its really lost its meaning over the years.

  • @erhsbboy

Plenty of people use the pose but not the entire movement. It's not that just. People call bite when they see their own stuff used by other people. Original or not you always show people that's what you're known for.

How many times has Born called bite for a mill to sidechair spin? Plenty. Was he the first to do it? No.

  • @AstrayChronicle Yea but thats not a bite. Its not something original that only one person does. Plenty of ppl do it.

  • @Genocidecrew

That pose walk thing was around way before Born was. Keebz uses it as well which is why he called bite.
