Prof. Viorel Murariu (April 1st 1954 - August 19th 2007)

He used to write on our blackboard 'LEARN ENGLISH TO FLY' before each class, and the meaning of it was way above the limits of the English class. I had the chance to 'fly' around the world, like many others of his students. Im sure, just like me, a lot of men and women say proudly, in whatever corner of the world, that Sir VIOREL MURARIU was their teacher, their guide, their mentor, their friend.

His motto was 'Nunquam non paratus/ Never unprepared'. And this is how he truly was, in school, as a translator, as a member of the debate team, as a member of his community. Always wanting more and better, always encouraging for more and better, always courageous, always sharp-minded, always unconventional, always with a vision.

Nominated for the prize Teacher of the Year in 2005 in Romania, he has the prize for many many years in many many hearts; and he will keep it forever.

I always kept in mind these words, coming not only from a good teacher, but from a good man: 'You can graduate from all the best schools; if in the end you cannot talk to the driver on tram no 5, you did nothing!' (no 5 tram line was the closest to our school).

May his life and the works and examples he left behind be heavy in God's eyes, ameen.
