Here is some rail action in the Hunter Valley of NSW. This is one of the busiest rail corridors in Australia. Currently over 100 million tonnes of coal is exported from this region each year. This is set to more than double over the next few years. This series of film clips are filmed at Tarro and Beresfield. In the three days I was there the coal trains were frequently banked up waiting to unload. How will they cope when the output is expected to more than double? It is predicted that there will be a coal train every eight minutes!
I was at maitland in April 2001 and there was a coal train every 8 mins going and every 16 mins a train coming back to get more coal it was amazing watching them coming n going
