@zerojazdy no, she's not. she should've showed more though, don't know if she made another video.
the clue with the mask is that you erase a part with a white brush and if you want that part back again, you use the black brush. this way you can't accidently erase something you don't want to go as you can always make it come back.

i dont have the button at the bottom of the pallet, what should i do?

i also followed this tutorial step by step and nothing happens when i click on my mouse. the image has not been changed.
